"Bulletproof" walls: US Pat. No. 7,637,073

U.S. Patent No. 7,637,073, issued on December 29, 2009 to Specialty Hardware L.P. of Newport Beach, CA, discloses a  wall to provide protection against ballistic projectiles and that can be quickly constructed using conventional techniques and readily transportable materials. 

The patent discloses that such walls can be useful when a military force needs to fortify existing unreinforced structures or portable structures from enemy fire in a short amount of time using non-specialized construction materials.

I don’t know much about Specialty Hardware, L.P., since a web search turns up very little information.  The company is listed as the assignee on various other pending patent applications in the area of  reinforced construction structures and techniques, one of which looks to be issued soon as another U.S. patent.  I’ll be glad if I’m never personally in need of their innovations, but I hope that the work of these OC inventors can reduce the risk of harm to our military personnel.
